She was known as "Annie". On her marriage license her name is spelled "Stricklin and Stricklen". In the family Bible of William Manor Stewart, her grandson, he has her name listed as " Annie Margaret Stricklen" which is wrong. In the family Bible of Isaac Stewart, her father-in-law, lists her name as "Annie Strickland", with Nancy crossed out and Annie written over it. On her marriage license her name is Nancy Ann Stricklin. I have left the spelling as Strickland even though her family members show up on census records with various spellings of the name. She and her husband died within 6 months of each other, their son was only 6 yrs. old at the time. She died of consumption and her husband died of typhoid fever.
On the 1850 census her name is spelled Stricklin, Nancy A. from Marion Co., IN. Centre Township. She was living with Rev. George W. Ames. He was a friend of her father ( or could she be related to him?)  who she went to live with upon his death.  Her father bought land in Eel River Township. He also deeded half acre of land for the Methodist Episcopal Church which he was a minister of. Deed witnessed by George W. Ames who was a minister also. Following entries in Greene Co., IN. Deed Bk. E p.629, Deed Bk. F pp.65, 493, 516, 517, & 518. As I study the family of Rev. George W. Ames & the allied families of "Annie's" siblings. I think that Rev. George W. Ames' wife, Mary Booth was somehow related to the Strickland's also. This needs further study.
Her obituary is in New Albany Ledger Dec. 26, 1860: Died, At Greencastle, Ind., on Monday evening, Dec. 24th. of Consumption, Mrs. ANNIE STEWART, relick of Marion C. Stewart, late of this city. She was at Greencastle, IN. where Rev. George W. Ames & family were living at this time. Rev.
George W. Ames removed to Greencastle in the fall of 1855 & engaged in the hardware business. He was financial agent for DePauw Univ. and superintendent of the asylum for the blind in Indianapolis. His homestead in Greencastle was located on Washington St. which was one of the city landmarks. This would have been where Annie died.
Henry and his wife Isabella, came from Venango Co., PA. He was a member of the Venango Guards for the year 1823; his father-in-law William Gibson was also a member. On 1830 Venango Co., PA. Census French Creek, Henry Strickland is listed: Males 1under five, 1 of 15 & under 20, 1 of 20 & under 30; females 2 under five, 1 of 20 & under 30. Henry was elected as one of the first school board directors in the year 1834 from French Creek District in Venango Co., PA. He was Justice of the Peace in Greene Co., IN. Final probate records in Greene, Co., IN. of the settlement of his estate dates: Sept. 22,1846 thru April term 1854 thru Sept. 16,1857. On most documents in Greene Co. his last name was spelled "Stricklin". First bought a lot in the town of Bloomfield, Greene Co. on Oct. 8,1842. Later he bought land in Eel River Township. He also deeded half acre of land for the Methodist Episcopal Church which he was a minister of. Deed witnessed by George W. Ames who was a minister also and who Nancy Ann went to live with when her father died. Following entries in Greene Co.,IN. Deed Bk. E p.629,Deed Bk. F pp. 65, 493, 516, 517, & 518.

An Elisha Strickland 1795-1862 (son of Jacob Sr) m. 1814 in Gibson Co IN, Dicey Skelton 1795-1881, (dau of Jacob Skelton Sr. Would this possibly be Henry's brother?) Or could John Strickland & Alice Perry who married on June 30, 1793 in St. James Parish, St. John's Episcopal Church in Baltimore, MD. be his parents? Could Henry's middle initial 'P.' stand for Perry? His daughter, Margaret, married Milton 'Perry' Eddy. I think the Strickland's are connected to the Perry family.
